InchBug makes silicone sippy cup labels that you can get your baby's name engraved on. It makes your life a bit easier, as it is one less thing you have to label. Permanent marker isn't permanent - It does wash off. 

Mabels Labels makes labels for clothing and supplies, and are durable. This is a great idea for bedding also!
