Concussion Guidelines

If a child incurs a head injury while at school, a parent or guardian will be notified immediately after the child is assessed. If a child has signs or symptoms indicating a possible concussion, we will ask that the child be picked-up and seen by a health care professional before returning to school.

If a child incurs a head injury and is not showing any signs or symptoms of a concussion, he or she will be observed closely for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Following a concussion, students must have a written release from a physician or a licensed athletic trainer indicating the student is able to fully participate in school academic activities prior to the student returning to school or physical activities.
